Ripples

Taking my camera off dry land for the last few weeks has been absolutely amazing! Though shooting underwater does have it downfalls (it’s not the easiest thing in the world to do) holding your breath, while attempting not to drown, while holding a 20+ pound camera housing and lighting is quite a talent in and of itself. I can’t wait to just in the pool again this week with my new models, I must say I’ve developed a bit of an obsession with it. The textures of skin, the seemingly fluid movements of the muscles, it’s a whole other space down there. dig

Underwater

I've been working on a new series of underwater shots, it's been exciting and daunting to say the least. Here is the first image I finished editing, I might take one more pass at it, but for the most part it is finished. Thanks to my wonderful model Jess for jumping in cold water for 5 hours with me.

Foodie

I have a slight obsession with food, I believe it's always been there, however since I moved to San Francisco food has become...well...how do I explain it, (sigh) it's just amazing. I'm so lucky to live in a city where the food tastes like heaven no matter where you go. My friends and I went to Farmer Brown's the other day, a soul food restaurant, if you have never been I highly recommend it. They have cucumber in their water ! I now this sound minor, but I loath water looaaaaath. But the attention to small details such as that keep me coming back to this amazing little restaurant, that and the amazing art adorning their walls.

The whole purpose for this little rant is that I have gathered a nice little collection of online recipes over the last year that I must try out.

Goal-
1. 1 recipe a week
2. Photograph my progress
3. Enjoy

So let's see how this goes shall we !? For my first recipe Red Lobster Biscuits, my mother and I's all time favorite.

Stay tuned.

Outside

I've been taking little trip's outside of the city with other photographer friends of mine just to shoot for me. I've been so busy with work and school that I forgot what it's like to just go out and shoot for myself. This particular adventure was 2 hours south of the city in the marshes.

Melissa is an amazing painter and the girlfriend of one of my close photographer friends Brett. Personally I would die standing in one place painting all day, but I've always admired people who do things I don't.

assignments

Imitate Erik Almas style in a product shot, if Almas was to shoot Products without people that is.

This was by far one of the most annoying assignment's to date. This class 'Concept Project,' is basically designed to get you to develop a style, if you don't already have one. It also teaches you to recognize styles in other photographers work. So our first two assignment's were to produce works in another artists style, but not to photograph what they usually do. I posted my Irving Penn landscape a few weeks ago, a much easier assignment for me because I shoot pretty simply like Penn. Erik Almas on the other hand is a pain in my side to replicate. Not may people in the class actually did, calling the assignment a loss. The guy does have a army of people spending their life in photoshop editing his work, hat's off.

Road Trip

As you know, I took a road/camping trip up the California coast with some Photographer friends of mine to to simply shoot a while back, to say we had fun would be an understatement. I posted the pictures a few months ago but never got around to editing the video I had also shoot on my camera. Finally, at LAST here it is :) Enjoy
